Sweetgreen is an emerging salad-focused startup that’s drawing comparisons to Chipotle. Established in 2007 by three friends from Georgetown University, the driving idea behind Sweetgreen was to render healthy food enjoyable, obtainable, and exciting. “Healthy food shouldn’t be an option only for the top 1%,” expressed Jonathan Neman, one of the co-founders, during an interview with CNNMoney. After studying in Australia, he was disappointed by the limited affordable meal options upon his return to the U.S. Not long after graduation, together with his buddies Nicholas Jammet and Nathaniel Ru, they inaugurated the first Sweetgreen.
