Eight Complimentary Courses and Activities for Children

Why should you spend money on kid’s classes and events when you have seemingly endless free opportunities in your local area? Here’s a list of things to do with your little ones in Atlanta, including eight venues offering complimentary classes and activities for children.

At William-Sonoma’s Junior Chef Classes, your child could enjoy a hands-on cooking experience – free of charge! The program, suitable for children aged 9-13, aims to spark interest in kitchen skills, from making pizza and pasta from scratch to preparing mouth-watering dinner items. Who knows, your child might enjoy it so much that they want to try their newfound skills at home!

If your child is over 5 years old, they might enjoy Lowes Build and Grow workshops. These free sessions, which take place on one Saturday per month at 10 a.m., offer children the chance to work on their own wooden projects. In addition to the project itself, the little builders will get their very own apron, safety glasses, and a patch.

Similarly, Home Depot provides free wooden crafting activities for children aged 5-12. Their projects’ accessibility might be appealing as the activities sessions run from 9 a.m to 12 p.m, one Saturday every month.

For the LEGO enthusiasts aged 6-14, the LEGO Store sets up free Lego mini model building sessions. These events occur every Tuesday at 5 p.m, offering free models to build and take home, while supplies last.

Lakeshore Learning Center delivers no-cost art project classes suitable for children aged 3 and up. These fun sessions are held every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m (drop-in hours).

Pottery Barn Kids organizes a free weekly storytime along with special monthly events. For instance, this September, they are planning a Halloween Carnival featuring enjoyable activities such as treats, games, craft-making, and face painting.

Apple Store’s Apple Camp offers a gratis opportunity for kids aged 8-12 to learn movie making from storyboarding, video filming, to creating original soundtracks. In the summer, the campers can even generate interactive books with their own illustrations and sound effects. Please note that this free program only runs during the summer months and is closed until 2015.

Toys R Us occasionally organizes fun events, but it’s a good idea to verify dates on their event calendar as they are somewhat inconsistent in comparison to the other listed venues.

Despite providing colorful project classes, Michael’s craft stores weren’t included because they charge a modest $2 for project. All these classes sound incredibly fun on paper, and we hope that your kids will derive great enjoyment from them. Don’t forget to book early and frequently check the event calendars.
