In recent years, we’ve seen various industry titans being compelled to shut down their operations. The familiar storefronts of Borders Books & Music or Linens & Things are no longer in our local shopping centers. Similarly, malls are devoid of establishments like The Sharper Image, KB Toys, Merry Go Round, Fashion Bug, or Today’s Man. Likewise, electronic retailers like Circuit City and Egghead Software have ceased operations. It appears ‘The Wiz’ was indeed beaten by someone. This phenomenon of well-known brands failing to thrive isn’t exclusive to retail industries, either.
