Anyone interested can acquire a six-acre haunted town for the price of $250,000. The town, Swett, located 123 miles from Rapid City and near the border of Nebraska, is a so-called “ghost town”. The package includes a house reported to be haunted, a garage/workshop, and a bar known as the Swett Tavern, complete with a stage and party room, as per the listing. The town once sported its own post office, which ceased operation in 1945.
Back in the summer of 2014, this town was first put on the market for a price of $399,000. To put things in perspective, the median price for a home in the U.S. stands at $229,000, as reported by the National Association of Realtors. In South Dakota specifically, home prices have seen a 15% increase over the past year, leading to an average price of $172,700 according to Zillow.
