Indian Workers Do Not Pay Income Tax

India’s average worker doesn’t have to pay any income tax or social security, according to statistics provided by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Interestingly, among the 39 countries analyzed by the annual OECD survey, India is the only nation where the majority of workers retain their entire salary. However, it’s important to note that the typical Indian worker makes around 80,000 rupees a year, which aligns to nearly $5,000 in U.S. terms, and they are also subject to multiple other taxes such as the sales tax. For an in-depth understanding of why Indian workers don’t pay income tax, refer to the articulation provided by CNN Money.
