Verizon Hikes Prices of Legacy Unlimited Data Plans

Verizon is set to increase the monthly cost of its legacy unlimited data plans by $20 for existing subscribers. The telecom giant confirmed to CNNMoney on Thursday morning that the unlimited data plan will now cost $49.99 per month instead of $29.99.

This move marks another attempt from the company to encourage customers to relinquish their sought-after plans which are preserved just because they were inherited through former contract terms.

Note that unlimited data is just one component of a broader cellphone bill. Additional charges apply for call minutes and texting services. For instance, people on Verizon’s 450 plan currently pay $59.99 monthly. With the new price for unlimited data, the total monthly expenditure is set to rise to nearly $109.99, excluding extra charges.
