In a bid to curtail expenses and maintain a competitive edge, Walmart has terminated hundreds of positions. On Friday, this global retail giant, headquartered in Bentonville, Arkansas, laid off 450 employees in efforts to increase its agility in a market dominated by competitors like Amazon.com.
A workforce of over 18,000 people occupied the Bentonville headquarters, positioned in the closely bonded community of Northwest Arkansas. The layoff affected various departments, stretching from finance to global e-commerce. According to the company, all affected employees were individually notified early on Friday.
