While unemployment figures are not as high as they were a few years ago, the number of jobless men globally is still markedly higher than it was several decades ago. In 1965, almost 97% of men aged between 25 and 54 were active in the workforce, whereas this percentage has dipped to a near all-time low of 88%. This rate encompasses those who are employed or have sought employment in the last month.
Should the participation rate have remained constant, an additional five million men would currently be part of the workforce. Many men are exiting the labor force primarily because they struggle to find well-paying jobs or lack the requisite education and skills to secure employment, according to experts.
