Women of the Millennial Generation Continue to Make Less Than Their Male Counterparts

Women of the millennial generation tend to attain higher education levels than their male counterparts, yet often find themselves earning less in their respective careers. Approximately 36% of millennial women, aged between 25 and 34, possess a bachelor’s degree or higher, as per a report from the Institute for Women’s Policy Research. This contrasts with about 28% of men in the same age range.

On average, women with bachelor’s degrees earn around $50,000 annually, equivalent to the typical earnings of a man with an associate degree. “Even women with bachelor’s degrees end up earning less than men who have the same level of education,” notes Barbara Gault, the Vice President and Executive Director of IWPR.
